Over the last few months at Hymers, we’ve had some new school signage made. So rather than sending the old signs to the scrap yard, we decided to first offer them to the old Hymerian community, in exchange for a donation to The John Hymers Bursary Fund.
We were amazed at the response as many raced to get in touch to own a part of the school's history and we were touched to hear the memories that these signs evoked.
One person to get in touch was Claire Kelly (née Nicholls), OH 1994-2001, the daughter of former Modern Languages teacher and Head of Lower School, Ian Nicholls, OH Staff 1982-2015. As a surprise for her father, she felt it was only fitting that he should receive the Modern Languages sign for his shed!
Thank you for all your generous donations, our highest bidder was £400!
For any alumni who were lucky to purchase one of these signs, we would love to see yours on display. Please feel free to email us with your photos.
