We are delighted to hear about David Childs' upcoming appearance at the Proms in July as a soloist playing the euphonium. David Childs, Old Hymerian (1992-1999) is one of the finest brass soloists in the world. David won the brass final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition during his time at Hymers, his father, Bob Childs (also a distinguished performer and conductor) was Head of Brass at Hymers. Former Director of Music, Tim O' Byrne (1986-2010) played the piano for him in the early rounds. David performs all over the world with top orchestras.
