The Development Office travelled back to London on 13 March (2024) for the annual City Drinks. At The Sterling in the Gherkin, over 40 alumni gathered to enjoy drinks and reminisce about their time at Hymers College.

For Chris Knight, OH 1954-64, it was his first time attending a Hymers Event since leaving the school fifty years ago and we certainly hope he will return sooner next time. He, along with many of our alumni, were able to reminisce about their time at the school and make new friendships.

Several alumni from the class of '96 were in attendance, including former Head Boy, Amitava Banerjee, OH 1986-96, and Head Girl, Su Harper-Clarke, OH 1991-96.

We were also joined by several 'new' Old Hymerians, who left the school this summer and are settling into their university and apprentice places in London.

Our Southern OH President, Bansari Patel, OH 1999-2001 also joined us for the evening along with OHA President, Will Hairsine OH 1992-97.

It was great to be back at The Stirling for this year's London drinks, to catch up with the regular attenders and to meet so many new people.

Another magnificent evening organised by Emily and her high achieving Development Office team, in which I met school mates I hadn’t seen since his wedding (Hi Jim!) and Old Hymerians in their first year at uni.

The atmosphere created by such a diverse but familiar crowd was epic and the knowledge transfer for old and young alike useful and relevant.

Thank you Old Hymerians, it’s always a pleasure!
