We were thrilled to catch up with Old Hymerian, Grace Marwood (OH 2013-2018) following the completion of her Music degree at Durham University.

Grace studied under Mr Quick during her time at Hymers and has remained a wonderful supporter of our Music department. In recent years, she returned to perform Handel’s Messiah alongside our current orchestra and fellow Old Hymerians, and recently featured in a performance at Howden Minster with Amy Butler (OH 1996-2005).

Before completing her time at Durham, Grace presented a final violin recital accompanied by Mr Bartlett. Hymers was delighted to host a run-through of her program as part of our termly Recital Series, which showcases our music staff and alumni. The evening was a resounding success, raising funds for Mr Stanley’s half marathon in support of the John Hymers Bursary Fund.

Grace went on to deliver an exceptional performance at Durham the following week with Mr Bartlett accompanying her final recital on the violin. Grace is now preparing for her next chapter at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she will study for a Master’s in Violin Performance.
