From Hymers to High-Tech Strategy: Old Hymerian Returns to Inspire Sixth Formers

We were delighted to welcome back Old Hymerian, Tom Peach (OH 1980–1990) to speak with our Sixth Form students from his office in Sydney about his career journey since leaving school. Following his time at Hymers, he completed a BA and MA in Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge (Corpus Christi College) before earning his MBA at London Business School. Today, he works as a Chief Operating Officer and Strategic Advisor leading major business transformations across the tech, med-tech, and AI spaces.

During an energetic and candid session, he shared how lessons learned in unexpected places, from analyzing human behavior in archaeology to the discipline of playing rugby at school and competing nationally in powerlifting have shaped his approach to leadership. He spoke openly about navigating dyslexia, embracing non-linear career paths, and treating failure as an essential step toward growth. His insights into AI and modern strategy left a lasting impression on our Sixth Formers as they prepare for university and beyond. The students found his insights particularly fascinating, especially regarding the interplay between micro and macroeconomics, as well as how AI is transforming the way businesses operate.

We are immensely grateful to him for giving back his time to inspire the next generation of Hymerians.
