We were delighted to welcome Rohit Mohan (OH 2010-2020) back to Hymers as he was passing through East Yorkshire this week. Rohit came to speak with our Sixth Form Medic society and shared his medical career journey so far since leaving Hymers. He enjoyed catching up with his former teachers too, Mr Sanz Caro and Dr Jarvis were delighted to see him and all agreed 6 years had flown by. 

Rohit is a Foundation Year 1 (FY1) Doctor at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, where he is currently completing clinical rotations in urology, cardiology, and orthogeriatrics. He earned both his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB, BChir) and a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Natural Sciences, specialising in Pathology, from the University of Cambridge between 2020 and 2026.

During his time at Cambridge, Rohit was deeply involved in student leadership and organised university societies. He served as the Welfare Officer for the Clinical Students’ Society and as Conference Officer for the Cambridge University Plastics, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery Society, where he organized the national CUPRAS annual conference. Additionally, as Sports Officer for the Cambridge University Medical Society, he founded the combined MedSoc/ClinSoc football team to compete in the Cambridge University Association Football League and organised weekly recreational sports for fellow medical students.

The students really valued hearing from Rohit and his journey so far, as many of our medics are nearing to handing in their personal statement and early entry application: they were extremley grateful to hear from someone who sat where they are sitting now - only a few years ago.
