We were delighted to hear Dave's news on his LinkedIn post recently. Since leaving school, Dave's path has taken him from studying Modern Languages at Oxford straight into a lifetime of public service and political strategy. He spent over two decades representing local residents as a Hull City Councillor, delivering practical community wins like new neighborhood centers, a park, and reopening a local post office. Alongside his municipal work, he spent 15 years driving campaign strategy for the Liberal Democrats, rising to Director of Field Campaigns, managing multimillion-pound budgets, winning four crucial by-elections, and helping deliver their record-breaking 72 MPs. In September 2026, he took on his latest role, entering Parliament as a Member of the House of Lords.
On 17th September I made my debut appearance in the House of Lords, being formally introduced as Lord McCobb of Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. I chose the places in the title to reflect where I was born and brought up, where I went to school, where I live with my family and where I served as a local councillor for 24 years until this May. It's an incredible part of the country with a fantastic story to tell. I want to use this new opportunity to promote Hull and East Yorkshire whenever I can, and to challenge the government to give it the priority it deserves.

Well done, Dave. We look forward to following your journey.
