The annual Old Hymerian London Dinner was held on Saturday evening at the historic RAF Club in Piccadilly, drawing a strong turnout of alumni from across generations, from 1959 through to 2024 and guests traveling from as far afield as Denmark. The elegant setting provided the perfect backdrop for a night of reconnection, reflection, and celebration of the Hymerian community.
Guests enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with many commenting on the exceptional organisation and sense of camaraderie that filled the room. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, praising both the venue and the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces.
A really enjoyable evening! Thanks so much for all that you and Jane did to make it such a success. Lovely to chat to you too. An excellent Hymers week for me.
After dinner, speeches were delivered by Mark Bentley Old Hymerian President (OH 1971-79) who was attending his 40th Annual Dinner and Headmaster Justin Stanley, who each highlighted the strength and loyalty of the Old Hymerian network. Their remarks underscored the importance of community, shared history, and the ongoing commitment of alumni to supporting one another.
Many Old Hymerians are part of generations that have attended the School, including Jonathan Clark (OH 1980-90), Neil Ashton (OH 1980-90), Ian Ashton (OH 1977-87) and Phil Craig (OH 1981-90) The longstanding friends met for a round of golf before attending the dinner, as is now a tradition.
The class of 1985 was represented by Chair of Governors, John Kittmer (OH 1978-85) along with Sally Pelham (OH 1983-85), Mike Astell (OH 1975-85), Andrew Edwards (OH 1975-85) and Sean Gibbons (OH 1976-85).
Nice to see you this evening. Thanks for a great evening!
A particular highlight of the evening was the impressive turnout from the Class of 2017. Their attendance was credited in large part to the efforts of George Heuck (OH 2007-17), who was described by fellow classmates as “the glue that holds them all together.” His enthusiasm and coordination were widely acknowledged as key to bringing so many of the cohort back for this year’s event.
The London Dinner once again proved to be a cherished fixture in the Old Hymerian calendar, an evening that blends tradition with friendship and ensures the spirit of Hymers continues long after students leave the school gates.
