Trevor Norman died 24th October 2019 at Dove House Hospice aged 67 years.
This obituary is unusual as I did not know Trevor Norman though our times at Hymers must have coincided for a short period.
In fact I would be grateful for any information about Trevor from Old Hymerians who knew him. The reason for writing this notice is to acknowledge with gratitude the unexpected and generous legacy left by Trevor to the Melton Scout Campsite Trust of which I am the Treasurer.
Enquiries within the local Scouting movement have yielded no contacts or information however Holly Beaumont at the Hymers Alumni team did furnish the following details:-
“Trevor joined Hymers in September 1963 and left in March 1970. He was a member of Gore House and active in the CCF joining in September 1965, promoted to LCpl in February 1969, Cpl in May and Sgt by September 1969. He went on to study at Leeds University”
By coincidence I too studied at Leeds but their Alumni Department could find no record of his attendance there and the trail ended. Trevor’s solicitors have not been able to provide further history from surviving relatives.
