Jess got in touch to tell us how she met her husband James at Hymers College and later married in March 2018.
Myself and my husband James met at Hymers when we were placed in the same form in Year 7 (Mr. Nicholls) in 2002. I was new to the school in seniors but James had been there since Year 4. We went through years 7-11 in the same form, and became really good friends in sixth form. We went off to study at separate universities in 2009 but remained in touch. James then travelled abroad to do a year of study in Australia and it was only when he came back that our relationship started. 6 years later we got married with a whole table of old Hymerians at our wedding and a best man in the form of James’s best friend from the Junior School.
In a form photo, James and Jess are next to each other in the top left, and their best man is standing next to James.
