Christmas parcels ready for delivery

This week (13 December 2022) our Sixth Form drivers delivered food parcels to elderly residents in Hull and East Riding, along with local food banks. Amongst the recipients were Old Hymerians, many of whom are now unable to leave their homes. Many of the gentlemen are in their 90's and used to be regular attendees at school for our OH lunches, but sadly they are not able to leave the house so freely.

We hope that they enjoyed a surprise knock on the door from our current students with a handwritten note from a Junior School pupil telling them about Hymers in 2022. We included a small Old Hymerian gift for them to enjoy too - Cufflinks for Christmas Day best!

If you are aware of any Old Hymerian who we can support next year please do let us know.

I'm writing to thank you for a very pleasant surprise I received yesterday. My front doorbell rang and I was suddenly surrounded by Hymers College pupils bearing gifts. They were ill-equipped for the cold weather, but we had a very interesting chat and I was so grateful for the gesture.

Please accept my sincere thanks, Christmas greetings and best wishes for 2023. I obviously also wish the school every success both on the playing fields and in the examination rooms.

Just to confirm that I am overwhelmed by your combined kind thoughts and initiatives of recent weeks, culminating in the appearance of today’s bumper tuck box at my door!  WOW!  Plus Card . Brilliant and many thanks.

Also, please convey my thanks and appreciation to the Year 6 student for his lovely words and thoughtful card received today with the inspired Hymers cufflinks . These I have only ever seen with envy - flashed around at the recent Founders’s lunch! Now I am the proud possessor.
