OH Assemblies |
It was a pleasure to welcome back James Oxley in October to deliver a full school assembly. James was last in the Hall as a pupil 23 years ago. James shared his journey since leaving Hymers Sixth Form and his career within the Metropolitan Police. James shared with the school how 'High Merit, High Reward' still resonates with him on a day-to-day basis and he believes the life skills he learned at school have helped him with his career to date. James is now a Detective Inspector with the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit. His career started as a Police Constable and he believes that the skills of determination, hard-working and resilience he learned at Hymers have helped him find the role he loves today.
James shared some of his stories with our students about his career in the Met from his Advanced Driving Skills course (chasing the street at 166mph!), waiting on a beach in Dover for a large human trafficking gang and his work to crack high levels of organised drug gangs.
After leaving us, Nick was going to meet up with one of his best friends from school, Nick Leek OH 1999.
