Sophie Wesche, née Mulgrove, attended Hymers between 1991 and 2001. Sophie has forged a successful career in finance and through her love of riding horses, plays competitive polo, competing across the country.

I always knew I wanted to have a career in finance.  Whilst at Hymers I worked in the school bank and I was the Finance Director for the Hymers Young Enterprise team.  After leaving Hymers, I went to Nottingham University to study for BA Hons Management Studies.

After university, I trained to be a Chartered Accountant with PwC progressing up to Audit Manager level before moving to the finance team at Smith & Nephew PLC. I’m now a Finance Director at a global manufacturing company called BBRG.

During my career, I have worked in many countries including Dubai, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Poland, India, France and Belgium

Out of work I have ridden since the age of 4 and represented Hymers in many equestrian teams. Since leaving school, I switched equestrian disciplines to polo. The main team I play for is called Parc Fermé and we compete all over the country in the “Women in Polo” league. We are currently the national ladies polo champions at 8 goal level.
I am married to a NZ polo professional and we have 2 young boys both of whom already have the riding bug!

If riding horses is in the genes I'm sure your boys will be very successful in their equestrian escapades!  Congratulations Sophie on winning the championship and wishing you continued luck in your tournaments.
