Whilst enjoying a trip down memory lane with a weekend in East Yorkshire with Mum, Khevyn (OH 1980-1990) and Jay Limbajee (OH 1979-1987) enjoyed some time back at Hymers. Walking back through the doors of their alma mater alongside their mother, who shared memories of early morning school runs and carol concerts, the Limbajee brothers stepped right back into their boyhood.

The halls felt at once strangely smaller and completely unchanged. They spent the morning wandering through familiarcorridors, stepping into old classrooms that instantly brought forgotten inside jokes and memories of  lessons. Sitting in their old assembly seats brought back a vivid rush of morning notices and hymns, while tracking down their classrooms felt like uncovering a time capsule, prompting laughs of shared anecdotes - warming themselves on small radiators, skidding down the shiny floors of E block and more! They shared memories of their Headmaster Mr Bryan Bass, looked for old rugby photos, reliving crisp autumn matches, climbing gym bars, Speech Night and walking to swimming lessons with fondly remembered Mr Glenville.

Reconnecting with the Headmaster. Mr Stanley on his way out his office brought out a piece of shared history- Khevyn had gone on to study Classics alongside Mr Stanley at the University of Cambridge.

For Mum, watching her sons stand in the spaces where they grew up, now as accomplished adults was the ultimate highlight. It was a weekend grounded in deep family ties, rich nostalgia, and a proud celebration of where their journey first began. It was a pleasure to have them back with us and share their memories and share with them Hymers in 2026 with all the traditions and additions.
