| Life After Hymers |
After studying A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths at Hymers College and leaving in 2020, Carmen Chan went on to complete a Master's degree at University College London (UCL) from 2020 to 2024.
Carmen delivered an engaging and interactive talk on the role of a pharmacist, highlighting the various career pathways available to students within the field. She spoke in detail about her current role at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), sharing insights into the challenges pharmacists may encounter and emphasising the importance of their contribution to the multi-disciplinary healthcare team. The students were attentive and actively engaged, asking several thoughtful questions about Carmen’s role, which demonstrated a genuine interest in the profession. During her time at Hymers, Carmen was actively involved in the Young Health Champions Volunteering Programme in partnership with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, demonstrating her early dedication to healthcare.
Carmen is now pursuing her passion as a Pharmacist at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, a role that reflects both her academic achievements and her commitment to supporting others. We were delighted to welcome Carmen back to Hymers recently to talk to our Hymers Medicine Society, and are proud to see where her journey has taken her.
