Life After Hymers |
We were delighted to welcome back Gemma Braithwaite (née Chivers), Class of 2000, to speak to our Sixth Form Economics Society. Since leaving Hymers College after her A Levels, Gemma has pursued a successful career in the investment sector and is now a Partner at All Seas Capital, a firm providing transformational capital solutions to leading entrepreneurial and family-owned businesses.
During her talk, Gemma shared insights into her current role and reflected on the journey that led her to the investment industry. She emphasised the non-linear nature of her career path, providing a refreshing and honest perspective that resonated strongly with our students. Her discussion prompted a wide range of thoughtful questions, covering topics such as degree choices, career opportunities in investment, and the dynamics of working in private capital.
Prior to her talk, Gemma enjoyed a tour of the school with her husband and son. The visit was filled with fond memories as she reminisced about her time at Hymers, particularly singing in choirs, assemblies, and music lessons. She also spoke warmly of the lifelong friendships formed during her school days, sharing stories that brought nostalgia to her return visit.
It was a pleasure to welcome Gemma back, and we thank her for inspiring our current students with her experience, enthusiasm, and thoughtful advice.
