We were thrilled to hear from Old Hymerian, Andrew Edwards (OH 1974-1984) after his recent trip to the the Isle of Sheppey. Andrew was on a 21 mile walk where he came across Old Hymerian, Gareth Fulton (OH 1991-2000) who is full time Estate Manager and Director of the beautiful Elmley Nature Reserve. They have since swapped emails and shared a photo of the two of them on their chance encounter.
I still can’t believe that, of the three people we met between leaving Leysdown at 9ish and arriving in Queenborough at about 6.45pm, a fabulous, charismatic old Hymerian was one of them! I’m copying this email to Emily so she can see that Old Hymerians reach the parts that other schools simply cannot reach.
They made their shared Hymers connection after chatting about Spurn Point, Hymers days and the wonderful East Yorkshire coast. Hopefully we will see Gareth at the OH Gala Dinner in November - he tells us he is trying to gather anyone from his School year (Class of 2000) for a reunion. Andrew is our incoming Old Hymerian Association President and we look forward to hearing from him at the Dinner in November.
