Thank you to the Hymers Community who supported our inaugural Giving Day in June 2025. Collectively we raised nearly £85,000 including Gift Aid to support young people in Hull. Currently, 80 academically gifted students receive support from the John Hymers Bursary Scheme. Hymers has long symbolised excellence, raising aspirations and creating opportunities. Access to a Hymers education represents a transformational opportunity for the children on our doorstep to make the most of their potential. Your contributions to bursary places are already helping transform the lives of young people at Hymers, and we simply cannot let this momentum fade.
That’s why we’re thrilled to share that our 2nd Giving Day is 25-26 June 2026. This mission is too important to pause. Our Old Hymerian community continues to show how much they believe in giving the next generation the same chance they once had, and together, we can keep that legacy alive.
Hear from Alice and Andrew about their time at Hymers and why bursary places are transformational
This year, to kick off our Giving Day activities, I am putting my money where my mouth is by dusting off my old trainers and putting myself through the suffering of the East Yorkshire Half Marathon. It has been almost 15 years since I completed that distance and so, while training has been going steadily, I do not think I will be breaking any records that day. Nevertheless, I am hoping to raise £10,000 for the Bursary Fund. Wish me luck!
Thank you for being part of what makes this school special. Your continued connection with Hymers is very much appreciated.
Best wishes
Justin Stanley
Headmaster
We're aiming to raise £85,000.00. So far we've raised £14,470.50
After the success of our 2025 Giving Day, we wish to extend the '1893 Treelined West Drive' within our grounds and extend the opportunity to plant afurther 20 native English trees (Oak, Maple, Beech and Cherry) for £400 with a commemorative plaque with your name engraved in Hymers history.
The purchase of one of these beautiful trees makes you a permanent part of our School’s history in a unique way. We hope our Giving Trees will inspire others to consider supporting Hymers and contribute to changing a young person's life.
