Memories at Hymers |
In the Eric Gordon Mallalieu Archive Library, one of the items that draws significant interest is the fragment remains of a Zeppelin bomb that was dropped during World War I. The bomb landed on the school's running track, narrowly missing the main school building.
We have looked through our collection of Hymerian magazines but unfortunately, there is no direct reference to the incident occurring. However, on a website by Ian Castle, there is mention of a zeppelin bomb being dropped on the grounds of Hymers College in the early hours of 6 March 1916.
