Life After Hymers |
I am incredibly grateful for my time at Hymers College, both academically and for the sporting opportunities we were given. Teachers Mr Whitehead (Head of Art) and Miss Caley (English teacher) played a vital role in growing my confidence within my studies.
I am currently studying a BA in Architecture at the University of Liverpool. After completing my second year, I wanted to gain a hands-on experience in the field and was fortunate to secure a three-month internship with LHL Group as an Architectural Technician Assistant. This opportunity allowed me to work across both their Hull and York offices, applying my academic knowledge in real-world settings. It was an invaluable experience that has provided me with a deeper understanding of architectural practice, which I’ve carried into my final year.
During my internship, I worked on a variety of residential, commercial and conservation projects, with site visits being one of the highlights - seeing the building process throughout a series of visits.
I absolutely love my university life in Liverpool. Originally, I started my studies in Business, but after completing my first year, I switched to Architecture - a decision I’m incredibly glad I made. I used to think Architecture wasn’t an option for me without a background in maths and physics. I studied Art, English Literature and Religious studies, but the blend of creativity and technicality has been the perfect fit and I would highly recommend any current pupils to consider looking into the degree.
Outside of academics, playing hockey has been a big part of my university life, along with my passion for running. Recently, participating in the Liverpool Half Marathon, was a great experience.
