Life After Hymers |
We are delighted to hear that Ben Teasdale has graduated from University of Leeds with a 1st class Integrated Masters (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial) including a placement year as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Renishaw.
As part of my final year my group dissertation was on the topic of the design and validation of a cartilage bioreactor. Looking to improve the quality of artificial cartilage growth through novel growth conditions. My section of this was looking at building a numerical model for the pressure distribution inside the reactor using MATLAB based on Reynolds theory. Individually I achieved a first for this however this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my supervisor Tony Herbert and the rest of my group Charlotte Adler, Peter Shore, Charlie Baker and Ben Taylor.
This also brings to an end my time at Leeds Gryphon Racing having been a part of the team for the last 4 years. The Formula Student competition this year was a great way to finish my time on the team with the highest points score in over 10 years and participation in every dynamic event showing the hard work we all put into the car this year. As one of the Technical Directors this year I oversaw a car which was 90% new making sure everything was designed and produced with good engineering science and in a timely manner. I would like to say thank you to the university staff for providing the funding and support to help set the team up for the future. From next month I will be starting a new chapter as a graduate engineer for MAHLE Powertrain. I look forward to continuing working on automotive engineering and developing my skills across a range of departments in the company.
