Life After Hymers |
Julian Wild (OH 1962-70) recently visited Hymers to speak to the Sixth Form Law Society about alternative careers in the Law.
After leaving Hymers College, Julian undertook a gap year job for 9 months for Hull City Council Internal Audit, before going to study law at the University of Exeter. He became a solicitor in 1977 and has held a practising certificate for 45 years.
His career has been both in private practice and industry, and he also has been a Company Secretary, Managing Director, Corporate Development Director, Corporate Finance Director, Non-executive Director and Mediator.
I’m in fairly regular contact with my 3 best friends at Hymers, all of whom live locally. I would like to know what happened to the others who I went through school with.
Memories of his time at school included playing for the Junior School football team with Gordon Jibson and then West Hull Schoolboys at Boothferry Park. In the Senior School, he played for the tennis team and was in the History Society with Dr Findlay. His favourite teacher was Mr J.R. (Jimmy) Coates, his English master at A-Level.
He was an inspirational teacher and we enjoyed theatre trips to RSC Stratford and Chichester.
Thank you, Julian.
