Old Hymerian, Denys Fell (1959-1969) has very generously donated  £2500 for the John Hymers Bursary Fund aftter running the Cape Town marathon in May this year.Cape Town has officially been confirmed as the eighth World Major. It means that currently he is one of only 1994 eight star athletes in the world! 

 In late 2025, Denys completed the Sydney Marathon, marking his official completion of all seven World Marathon Majors (London, Boston, New York, Chicago, Berlin, Tokyo, and Sydney)

Denys isn't shy of running marathons and when we came back to Hymers to a Rugby lunch event last year we thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all of his running adventures. He is an inspiration to us all, running marathons and farming in Holderness. Thank you, Denys for your generosity ahead of our Giving Day. We truly appreciate your support.

Denys has also been working with Macmillan Cancer Support and ITV's Emmerdale since one of the main characters (Cain) was diagnosed with prostate cancer. You can see a clip of him here working with the cast Denys speaks to Emmerdale Cast about his journey with prostate cancer
