Old Hymerian, Kat Richmond Founder Of New Radio Station Venn

We are excited to hear of former student Kat Richmond, (OH 1996-98) and her new venture. As a founder of Venn Radio - an independent internet radio station based in Hull. The eclectic music programming reflects the vibrancy of the music scene in this corner of the country. It is run by volunteers Kat Fairplay nee Richmond, Mike Aistrop, Dayle Credland and Jack Rimmington, who are all directors of a community interest company called Venn Radio Productions CIC. The aim of the company is to support the development of music education in the region.

I’m happy to announce Venn Radio has launched. So proud of the work that’s gone into this so far especially from my fellow station managers Dayle J Credland, Jack Rimmington and Mike Aistrop what a great team we are! This project has taken a few months to put together alongside setting ourselves up as a CIC to support the wider music community in our home city of #hull If you live in Hull, are from Hull or have a musical connection to the city and would like to have a regular show with us, please email vennradio@gmail.com sending us a brief outline of your show idea plus a mix if possible. Finally, give us a follow on both Instagram for live news, and Soundcloud as we will drop the archives there.

The radio station is intended to serve a diverse section of the local population, and provide a platform for DJs, musicians, community groups, small music-related business owners and music venues to host shows that promote regional culture, share important cultural news, preserve cultural heritage and strengthen social cohesion by giving the music community a voice.  Venn Radio broadcasts from midday to midnight every Friday and Saturday. Shows are currently pre-recorded but the company aims to progress to live broadcasting from a permanent location in the city over the coming year.

Also featuring on the show is Old Hymerian, Alistair Murray (1988-98) with his debut Radio Dionysus show.

Radio Dionysus is a monthly celebration of good music and good times. Moving freely between house, disco, funk and techno, with detours via Balearic, Brazilian, Italian, Japanese influences and more. The show favours quality over rules and flow over formulas.Expect deep cuts, classic moments and the odd curveball, all poured with care and enjoyed best in good company. Let me know what you think!
