| Life After Hymers |
We were grateful to Bansari Patel (OH 1999–2001), who recently spoke to our senior school students about working in the legal profession.
Bansari shared her experiences of university life and her career pathway since leaving Hymers, highlighting the many varied routes she and her friends and colleagues have taken within the legal sector. She is a highly experienced in-house solicitor specialising in regulatory and disciplinary law, inquests, and data law, managing a diverse portfolio of complex and high-profile cases. Bansari currently works at the Medical Defence Union, which offers guidance, support, and defence to medical professionals.
She studied at both the University of Leicester and The University of Manchester, where she gained an MA in Medical Ethics and Law. During her talk, Bansari answered questions on work experience and offered valuable advice on how to stand out in your application amongst thousands of other candidates. She also recommended useful reading materials and discussed the importance of networking to build knowledge and connections within the sector. Throughout her talk, she spoke positively about her experiences in the legal profession and the skills and networks that can be developed through a legal career.
We are also honoured to have her representing the Old Hymerians Association as their Southern President. Thank you, Bansari, for giving your time during an extremely busy working week.
