We recently welcomed back Tony Fussey, with his wife Kathryn, to Hymers College. Now living in the Gloucestershire area, they were visiting the area on holiday, which gave him the chance to see his old school.
Tony attended Hymers College from 1961 until 1968, before studying Geography at the London School of Economics. He found that there had been many changes over the years at the school, with new buildings such as the Judi Dench Theatre.
He remembered that while he was at Hymers, the Junior School moved location from the Modern Language Block as it is now known (formerly E Block) to near the new dining hall. While the dining hall still remains there, the Junior School had in fact moved again to make way for a swimming pool.
In 2020, when Tony turned 70 years old, he retired as a Justice of the Peace, becoming the longest serving magistrate in the country at the time. To read more on his career since leaving Hymers College, please visit Country's Longest Serving Magistrate.
