Alice has contacted us to explain her involvement over the last two years in her university's charity fashion show.
Last year, they raised £55,000 for Create (a UK creative arts charity based in London, which offers creative workshops and arts experiences led by professional artists in community settings, schools, prisons and hospitals) and this year, they are raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
During my second year at Durham University, I was Sponsorship Director for Durham University Charity Fashion Show (DUCFS), the UK's largest student-led fashion show. Despite a whole host of COVID-related challenges, we managed to run the show, albeit at a slightly lower capacity than normal, and raise £55k for Create.
This year, I decided to get involved again as President of DUCFS and our show starts on 10February, back in our usual venue bigger and better than ever! We are expecting over 3,000 attendees across the 3 nights and hoping to raise £180k for Teenage Cancer Trust. This money will go towards funding the Lead Teenage Cancer Trust Nurse at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle - the first time DUCFS will hopefully make a tangible local difference in it's 39 year history.
