What makes this nominee inspiring?

Simon joined the Holdings board in 2012 as a Non-Executive Director. He is a senior partner with Gosschalks, the entrepreneurial law firm based in the heart of Hull, and a well-known authority for big name clients across the country. Simon specialises in many aspects of company law and corporate work. In his senior partner role, he uses his vast experience to tutor and mentor up-and-coming lawyers and he is also a key contact partner for many of the firm's large corporate clients.

Simon is also a Director of his own group of property businesses and holds various other Board positions, including as Chairman of Hull-based contact centre business ResQ and as a Non-Executive Director of Hessle-based plastic components manufacturer Bridgewood and as a Non-Executive Director locally-based residential property company Beal Homes. In addition, Simon is a member of the Council of the University of Hull and Chair of the university’s Audit Committee. He is also a Governor at Pocklington School and Chairman of their External Relations Committee.

Simon was recently awarded the Lifetime Contribution Award in the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards 2017 in recognition of the leading role he has played in the region’s business community over the past four decades. He is also the recipient of an honorary doctorate of laws from the University of Lincoln where he was a governor for 10 years (latterly vice chairman).
