Sean Scott

Attended Hymers College:

1996 - 2006

What makes this nominee inspiring?

Sean’s inspiration for business started at Hymers; with his team winning the National Finals of the Young Enterprise competition. At the time, Headmaster Mr John Morris acknowledged the win stating it was the first national award the school had won. Sean also placed 2nd in Europe which is still unbeaten by a UK company.
After school Sean entered the world of business working in resin flooring. After 3 years he setup Vuba in his garage with £1,000 start-up capital. That company, now known as Vuba Chemical Innovations Limited, is ranked 284th on this years "Financial Times" Fastest Growing 1,000 European Companies released in 2023. Vuba were also ranked in the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies according to the “Sunday Times” and ranked as a Top 25 manufacturer in the UK in 2022.
Company sales will surpass £20m in 2023, exporting their own formulated and manufactured resin products to 20+ countries worldwide and they are about to embark on the building of a £6m state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Beverley.
With a plethora of celebrity customers including brand ambassador Mrs Hinch and customer and endorser Michelle Keegan; a staff role of close to 60 staff and the business still privately owned by Sean... quite an achievement for something that started with Sean asking Mr Gravelle if he could setup a Young Enterprise company!
